From the Desk of Marty: Notes on Pickleball Etiquette and Scheduling

Hello all,
I wanted to take a moment to go over a few important items regarding our shared enjoyment of pickleball. First, a brief review of the rules. Pickleball is played with a paddle and a plastic ball with holes. Games are typically played to 11 points, win by 2. Only the serving team can score. Serves must be underhand and made diagonally. The non-volley zone, often referred to as “the kitchen,” should not be stepped into when volleying. This is an important rule that helps keep the game fair and prevents unnecessary injury.
Another area that deserves our attention is scheduling. It is highly recommended that players reserve court time in advance using the posted sign-up sheet. This avoids confusion and ensures everyone gets fair court time. Please don’t jump ahead on the list or erase names. If you can’t make your time slot, cross your name off so others can use that opportunity.

Now, on the topic of court cleanliness. Please remember to pick up any water bottles, snack wrappers, or towels. Do not leave balls or other equipment lying around. If you see litter, even if it’s not yours, kindly dispose of it. Sand and leaves should be swept off the court surface when possible. There is a broom available near the bench.
These simple practices help make the courts more enjoyable for all. I know they may seem obvious, but consistency is key. If we all do our part, things run smoothly. Thank you for your time and cooperation.

Best regards,
Marty
